Our "crummy" weather pattern shows signs of breaking down. When temps could SOAR!

A large upper level storm system continues to swirl above us right now.  It has provided the downright NASTY conditions the last few days and will bring us another stinker tomorrow.  

Expect more showers across the area tonight. It could even be cold enough to support some wet snow in the higher terrain across the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes by Tuesday morning as temps slide into the 30's to start the day!  Rain continues into your Tuesday with another generally crummy day with showers gradually tapering off during the afternoon.  Otherwise cloudy with more unseasonably cold highs in the upper 40's.

We'll get a brief break on Wednesday as milder air finally sweeps in with the potential for showers again late in the day as a weak front cools temps a bit on Thursday with drier conditions.  Showers will be possible again on Friday with temps slightly below normal for this part of May.  

Finally the consensus of model data projects a rather favorable pattern shift in those upper level winds as we head into the weekend as a sizeable ridge tries to push into the Eastern US.

 This would be GREAT news for us with today's runs of the GFS and Euro (GFS shown below) actually advertising 80's by Sunday!

While I won't pull the trigger on that just yet as uncertainty remains high during that part of the forecast, we'll go with some 70's for now.  Either way you slice it, we'll be doing a lot better by this weekend compared with what we've got out there right now. Grief.
