Messy Weather Looming Next Week

Following a quiet night ahead with light winds and seasonably cold conditions into the upper teens for many, temps gradually warm with some unsettled weather for Superbowl Weekend.

Temps warm a bit on Friday and into the start of the weekend as clouds returns with highs running into the mid to upper 30's to start the weekend.

The arrival of a weak upper level system looks to bring the possibility of a light wintry mix of some rain/snow showers by late Saturday and into the day on Sunday with melty conditions.

After a brief warm up early next week which looks to boost temps to near 50 on Monday, big changes are projected into the middle of next week as a slow moving, but strong, frontal boundary slides across the region with several ripples of low pressure.  This could result in a duration precipitation event that could include anything from rain, sleet, freezing rain and snowfall.  An "all modes" precip type of event is on the table.  However, it will likely start as rain or a rain/snow mixture Tuesday.  By Wednesday, the favored precipitation type will be snow with signicant accumulations not out of the question.

In the "Beyond the 7 Day" we will be focusing on the gradual evolution into a much more persistent and cold, mid-winter like pattern.  My thoughts on a large scale pattern change and the potential for looming February winter storms in tonight's #WxLIVE at 845,

 See you then!
