Heavy Wet-Snow Maker Arrives Across Midwest..
A sprawling storm system is now churning across the Central US with heavy rains and thunderstorms to the south, and heavy snow to the north.
Winter Weather Advisory (PURPLE) and Winter Storm Warnings (PINK) have been posted from the Texas Panhandle through the Northeast as the storm is expected to progress northeastward over the next couple of days.
With that being said, this looks to be a WET snowfall for just about every one and a cold rain elsewhere. (Notice the lack of any real cold air in the path of the system with most areas in the 40's and 30's currently.)
The main thrust of snowfall looks to occur overnight and into the day on Wednesday across Eastern OK, Northwestern AR, through SE IL and into Central IN and Northwest OH as the low looks to travel from Monroe LA to near Toledo OH by late Wednesday.
Snowfall totals generally in the one to three-inch range can be expected in the Advisory areas and as much as five to 10 inches can be expected for parts of the Warned area including the Indianapolis and St. Louis markets.
This will be enough to create a mess out the door for many communities tomorrow. However, because of the wet and slushy nature of the snow, it should melt pretty fast with a changeover to rain expected for areas along and south of the Ohio River.
Stay safe.
