SATURDAY NIGHT: First Snow of Season for Ohio Valley

As the Great lakes continiues to experience Lake Effect Snow from an early-season cold blast that grips much of the Eatern US, a fast moving upper-level storm is set to bring the first snow of the season for many into parts of the Middle-Mississippi and Ohio River Valleys Saturday Night.

With air temps falling into the lower 30's Saturday evening, the "Clipper System" looks to bring light to moderate snowfall for several hours starting across parts of Kansas and Missouri during the day Saturday before sliding into the Lower Ohio Valley Saturday evening/Saturday night.

While ground temps remain a little above freezing, air temps are expected to quickly fall below freezing as precipitation begins leading to light accumulations in a narrow west-to-east swath along and on either side of the I-64 corridor.

How much snow?

While the Hi-Res NAM (above left) is showing some impressive numbers upwards of six inches in the St. Louis area, the Euro (above right) is coming in with much lower numberes in dusting to two-inch range for most areas affected.  While it's possible that some may recieve some locally higher numbers, the Euro seems more reasonable at this time.

While this won't turn out to be a storm of the century, it will be plenty to slicken up roads as temps fall through the 20's area-wide Saturday night.

Temps will continue to struggle as we head into early next week with highs remaining at or below freezing Sunday and Monday.  Overnight lows look to dip into the teens for many both nights.  Brrr!!

Bundle up and don't forget about your fur-babies!
