FORECAST: Thanksgiving Storm Taking Shape with POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY SNOW.
Get ready for a potpourri of weather of weather for Thanksgiving Day across the Midwest with the potential for significant accumulations of snow for some and heavy rain for many others.
Embedded within some very active jet stream winds across the Continental US currently is a vigourous upper level storm that is set to eject out of the Rockies late on Wednesday.
This will cause low pressure to quickly form along a sharpening frontal boundary that will separate two distinctly different airmasses with 60's and 70's to the south and temps only in the 20's and 30's to the north.
This will likely result in a pretty good swing in temperatures for folks across the Lower Ohio and Middle Mississippi River Valleys on Thursday as a strong low pressure center travels from Southern Missouri Wednesday night into Western Pennsylvania by Thursday Evening.

While it's too early to project just how much snow, I do like the latest run of the European Forecast Model showing the potential for six inches or more across parts of Northern MO through Northern IL, IN, OH and Southern MI. Further east, some decent snows can be expected into parts of the Appalachians and into Western New York by Thursday night.
With that being said, weather for the big travel day on Wednesday looks relatively quiet ahead of this storm for the Central/Eastern US. However, that will change quickly Wednesday Night and for Thanksgiving Day so be prepared for that and, of course, stay tuned for forecast changes over the next few days.
