Winter Weather Advisories Issued. Timing Snowfall and YOUR Projected Amounts.
Winter Weather Advisories go into effect tonight through the day tomorrow for a good chunk of Western NY including the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier.
A system arriving late tonight looks to deliver widespread snowfall to the region and unlike the storm over the weekend, temps won't be a factor.
Timing the snow
As a low approaches and then passes to our south, a large shield of snowfall looks to to move in late overnight before encompassing all of Western NY by 5 or 6 AM ET. The areawide snow is expected to fall throughout most of, if not the entire day on Tuesday. While the heaviest of the snow looks to fall across the higher elevastion across the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes, everyone looks to pick up accumulations.
The question is, just how much?
In light of a well publicized "bust" in the snow forecast from over the weekend, I thought for a change of pace, I would ask your opinion on Tomorrow's snow. Just how much do you think will fall in Rochester and the rest of Western New York?
What do the models say?
I know, that's not exactly fair considering you probably don't have access to the weather model data that I do. With that being said, here are snowfall projections from the BIG 4 of weather modeling. In order, here are snow totals as advertised by the 3k NAM, the Euro (ECMWF), the GFS and the Canadian (GEM)...
So what says you?
With that being said, how much do you think will fall? Please leave me your thoughts on my facebook or on my other social media pages and I'll share your results tonight on the show. Also, I'll give my "two cents" on how much I think this storm might bring.
Plus, the lake effect machine kicks in on Wednesday with additional accums likely, when where and how much more in tonight's WxLIVE at 8:45! See you then.
