Why has the Left abandoned the teachings of MLK?
With so much political animosity and an incessant fixation on racial divisions today, I thought it was important to look back at the incredibly powerful teachings and lessons we learned from the greatest modern civil rights leader of our time.
Here are some glaring examples of how far we’ve fallen away from Reverend King’s Dream for America.
“How can the “dream” survive if we murder the children? Every aborted baby is like a slave to the womb of his or her mother. The mother decides his or her fate.”
Regardless of your stance on the abortion issue, MLK did not mince his words. He also said, “Never, never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.”
Dr. Alveda King, the niece of MLK had this to say about the genocide of unborn black children in America. “The great irony is that abortion has done what the Klan only dreamed of… Roughly one-quarter of the black population is now missing.”
She would go on to say that “Abortion is an attack on the family and the humanity that unites us all.”
Since Roe v Wade in 1973, more than 20 million black babies have been canceled before ever taking their first breath.
Overall, 65 million abortions have been documented since the 1973 ruling. Think about that, that’s nearly 20% of our current population that has been eliminated by the legal “genocide” of our most vulnerable.
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
As with the case of abortion, inner-city violence and crime is a pandemic in this nation right now.
While the left’s narrative will tell you that cops are the biggest threat to the Black community, a very surface investigation will reveal just how absurd that notion is.
As it turns out, approximately 200 blacks, primarily young black males, are killed by violence EVERY WEEK in the United States and in 2021, the total number of black homicides raced north of 10,000 for the year!
Of those, only 10% of black homicides are committed by whites and even further, only approximately 2% of all killings are coming at the hands of law enforcement. Keep in mind, the VAST MAJORITY of those have been deemed justified.
So why is it that every time a black man or woman is killed by a police officer, regardless of the situation, the criminal, not the officer gets the benefit of the doubt?
Now don’t get me wrong here, because police brutality should never be tolerated, but why are our police, who put their lives in jeopardy EVERY DAY held to one standard, but there seems to be no standard for the criminals involved with some of these cases.
If Black lives truly matter, then shouldn’t ALL Black lives matter?
“Judge a man not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character.”
Some college professors, elementary school teachers and leaders of authority may preach that our identity is in God; after all He tells us we were created in His image. But so many people want to define us by outward appearance, sexual preference, gender, and or any other characteristic they choose.
While I agree some characteristics may affect lifestyle and choices. I also believe that much like a book; we cannot be judged by our cover.
“White Fragility” written by Robin DeAngelo, states that the lighter your skin, the ‘more racist’ you are in America. Churches preach this as gospel, schools teach this to our young children as CRT, and workplaces embrace it.
Many are believing it; would MLK?
On August 28, 1963 the Reverend famously said, “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed. We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal.”
MLK was a pastor, a man of integrity. He wanted us to embrace our uniqueness that each of us brought while focusing on our inner beauty, our character.
The Left divides us, tells us the color of our skin is who we are, something that is completely out of our control, an immutable characteristic that we can do nothing about and then lumps us into separate identity groups in an effort to divide us.
Dr. King didn’t stand for segregation, he sought to eliminate it. But suddenly, here it is again.
“Let no man pull you so low as to hate him.”
I do not like Mayor Lovely, I do not like Andy Cuomo, I do like Joe Biden.
I don’t like people that lie to the American people and pretend that they are helping and have our best interest at heart.
They do not. These men and women get paid to lie to us, keep us fearful and divide us while they can stay powerful and rich. Their policies are immoral.
I like Donald Trump. Yes, I said it. He is obnoxious, crass at times, but he is brutally honest. I agree with his policies. While he appears to love himself a lot, he also loves America. MAGA
The Left react to Trump much like they accuse patriots of speaking “hate speech”. They HATE Trump and they vocalize it loudly. The Left are instructed by anchors like Don Lemon to disassociate anyone who supported him. The “tolerant” party is not very tolerant of differing opinion.
They let Trump pull them down so low that they voted Biden in “to build back America”. In what way has he built back America? His promises are empty. Illegal immigrants are coming into our precious land by the millions. Biden says come on, legal or not, and stumbles to tell the citizens of America to get our covid test, stay masked and get vaccinated. Do we believe that all these immigrants are tested, wearing masks, and vaccinated?
I do not like Biden, but this too shall pass, his administration is temporary.. Many see what is happening to our beloved country. We will stand by Her and MLK. We pray for our enemies and the poor leaders in power that is destroying this great land.
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
I wonder how Dr. King would feel about the treatment of political prisoners being held in Washington DC right now a full year after the highly sensationalized January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.
A riot that resulted in the death of Ashli Babbitt, an unarmed US Veteran, who was shot to death by a Capitol Police officer who still hasn’t been charged with anything despite the fact he was not in any immediate danger by Babbitt.
While the events that occurred at the US Capitol from January of last year are still being debated, it clearly went too far. The moment the crowd laid hands on officers is when the line was crossed. When windows were busted and the Capitol was breached, lines were crossed. It was an ugly moment in American History.
But why are the participants of the Jan 6, Washington DC political rally turned protest/riot treated so dramatically differently than any of the riots that occurred in the name of the political movement, Black Lives Matter, during the summer of 2020?
The aftermath of more than 10,00 protests that led to approximately 200 raging riots across mid and major American cities during the summer of 2020 led to a staggering amount of violence and damage with at least 25 Americans being killed and damage estimated at $1.5 Billion as thousands of busineses were either damaged or destroyed during the chaos.
In addition, three officers of the law were killed and an 8 year old child from Atlanta was also killed during one of the riots.
The DOJ reports that 725 people have been charged for their alleged roles in the Jan. 6 riot but had only arrested 250 people for the seven months of BLM-Antifa riots leading up to the 2020 Presidential election.
Why the difference in treatment? Why are dozens of people sitting in Washington DC jails right now who haven’t been charged with anything more than breaking and entering for vandalism?
“We must learn to live together as brothers, or we will perish together as fools.”
Yet, all we see is division from the establishment media and our elected leaders.
We know longer see the vision that MLK has so eloquently set out for us as a nation as he had high hopes of a nation that would come together to fight injustice and bring unity, not division, to heal our past and had faith for our future.
“When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every tenement and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old spiritual, “Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty, we are free at last.”
Final Thoughts from a Multi-Racial Perspective
I will leave you with an excerpt from the book 2021 book on racial relations in America today ‘Black and White: How the Left is Destroying the Dream of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Our Founding Fathers
The authors of the book, Pat and Dave Brown, are from a multi-racial family. Pat, a white woman who fully believed in MLK’s dream, married a black man in 1979 and had three non-white children. Dave is one of her sons.
Pat: “I cannot believe today that my grandchildren will suffer more from racism than the kids I raised in the 1980s and 1990s! Why, back then, I just worried about my non-white children not having as good opportunities as if they were white. I never worried about them having bad encounters with the police or being attacked by the Klan or White Supremacists. And they grew up pretty much without those worries. But, now, my two white grandchildren will either be labeled Nazis if they don’t become “allies” with black power groups and practice “anti-racism” or, if they are too black, they will be required to hate white people and join Black Lives Matter or else.”
Dave: “How did we ruin such a straightforward message? Well, we didn’t. The Left did, and they show no sign of letting up. So today, on Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday, I’m nostalgic for yesteryear, where there are no “safe spaces” or “trigger” words. No kneeling for the National Anthem or fists raised in the air. Bring back the time when we as Americans recognized our imperfections, knew we could do better, and strove each day to make this country a little brighter, a little kinder, and a little closer to Martin Luther King’s dream.”
The fact is, that thanks to certain political interests, we have fallen away from MLK's hopes and dreams for Future America. However, it is us up to us to recognize this inconvenient truth and to realign our values with his and also the courageous founders of this once great nation.
