FORECAST: Outbreak of Severe Storms LIKELY

Looks like March will be coming in like a lion.  After a very intense January and February for the Eastern US when it comes to winter weather, the switch will flip to spring as we roll into March with the potential for explosive storms this this coming week.

The European forecast model has been consistently showing a very strong upper level storm ejecting out of the Southern Rockies with an associated surface low pressure system that looks to rapidly develop on Tuesday across the Middle MS River Valley.

With that being said, Today's run of the Euro came in more aggressively showing a "negative tilt" to the upper storm usually associated with outbreaks of severe thunderstorms.

This low looks to deepen very rapidly across NE Oklahoma and SW Missouri with the central pressure reaching 979 mb by early morning on Wednesday as an enormous shield of precip develops stretching from East Texas all the way up into the Great Lakes.

On the backside of the system, heavy snow is expected to develop initially over the Central Rockies on Tuesday, before redeveloping across parts of the Midwest and Great Lakes as the surface low travels from SW Missouri through the Central Great Lakes on Wednesday.

To the south, the Storm Prediction Center has already identified an area of "Enhanced Risk" across parties of the Lower MS River Valley for late Tuesday and Tuesday night where comforting apart favorable for damaging winds, hail and the prospect for strong tornadoes.

Surrounding the Enhanced Risk area, a large Slight Risk has been posted for areas as far north as the Ohio and Tenessee River Valleys.  This area of Slight Risk then translates east into the Carolinas on Wednesday with additional severe storms expected.

This system will need to be monitored closely.  Stay tuned for updates over the weekend.
