Active pattern continues for end of week. A warming long range outlook...

We'll be in between storm systems on Thursday with quiet conditions, a mixture of sun and clouds and temps running about 5 to 10 degrees below average for this part of May as highs top out near 60 degrees.

That next system, a quick mover, arrives in on a busy northwesterly flow aloft bringing another front with showers Thursday night and into Friday morning.

We'll clear it out Friday afternoon with seasonable highs in the 60's.

Looking further out, temps should warm some into the weekend, however, further warming looks to hold off until later next week as a large upper level ridge of high pressure builds in on those jet stream winds across much of the region.

This will be great news for those who have been frustrated by the cool may temps so far.  Highs should warm well into the 70's if not close to 80 by the second half of next week.  The Climate Prediction Center agrees with this assessment and has a VERY large area over the Eastern US identified with above to well above normal temps in the 8 to 14 day forecast range.

Updating timing of Friday's rain and IF we can keep it dry for the final weekend of Lilac Fest n tonight's WxLIVEat945. See you there!
