FORECAST: Temps Plummet and Flakes Fly!!
As advertised, it's been a very warm start to the week with widespread 60's and 70's being recorded for a second straight day today for the Ohio and Middle MS River Valleys.
Hopefully you were able to take advantage of the unseasonable warmth because a MUCH COLDER reality is about to set in.
Following the passage of a strong cold front overnight temps will drop quickly over the next couple of days with afternoon highs not expecting to escape the 30's on Thursday. Factoring in the wind, it will feel-like it's in the 20's all day Thursday!! This will be the coldest airmass so far this season and it looks to come with a mixed bag of precip including accumulating snow for some.
Here's a look at the latest run of the Hi-Res NAM showing expected precip Wednesday/Thursday with rain generally changing over to snowshowers for many.
Despite marginal air temperatures in the 30's, accumulations appear likely across much of the Great Lakes and into Central Indiana where a few inches will be possible. Additionally, higher elevations into the Appalachians look to pick up a few inches as well. For the rest of us, it will mainly be a light coating or dusting on grassy or elevated surfaces.
I'm thinking this will only accelerate the Christmas decorating process. Enjoy the snow, but don't forget about your pets when the temps drop!
